Orpheum Theatre 528 Pierce Street, Sioux City, IA, 51101

Over decades, the Orpheum Theatre has witnessed several remodels but lately, it has returned to life for the efforts of a devoted restoration staff experts as well as craftspeople. In 1982, the center was divided into two sections as 2 small movie houses that remain in operation until 1992, the year when the theater went dark.

With the expertise of architect Ed Storm, the reconstruction began in 1999 with a cost of approximately million. The reconstruction took 4 months to be completed. And in 2001, the theater was reopened again. And after the renovation, it has become as if ripped out of an old black-and-white movie.

It was in September 15th 2001 that the center was opened publicly. And since then, it was a scene of several performances and it hosted big names such as Bob Dylan, Sheryl Crow, Bill Cosby, Olivia Newton-John, David Copperfield, Wynton Marsalis and the list goes long. The Orpheum Theatre was included in the list of National Historic Places in 2000.
